Next Concert with the Thoroughbass Ensemble

Hester Hannah as Phaedra!
My viola da gamba and theorbo take a break while I perform on violin this time with the Thoroughbass Ensemble. Directed by Diana Weston, this concert features both Baroque and 20th-century music performed on period instruments. This means that the performers are playing on Baroque and modern instruments at different pitches in the very same concert (but not at the same time!).

The concert begins with Baroque sonatas by Vivaldi and Handel (I am joined by violinist Julia Russoniello, violist Tara Hashambhoy and cellist Catherine Upex) and is followed by the Handel cantata Lucrezia (Hester Hannah sings), Gorecki harpsichord concerto (Diana on solo harpsichord) and Britten opera Phaedra (Sarah Penicka-Smith conducts, Lucy Cormack and Angus Ryan plays cello and Steve Machamer on percussion).

The concert is on Friday Aug 22 2014 at 8pm at the Sydney Conservatorium's Recital Hall East. For more details, see Thoroughbass Ensemble's website.
